Mark Consuelos, Harriet Harris, Craig Bierko & Polly Draper Sign On For Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays
Mark Consuelos, Tony winner Harriet Harris, Tony nominee Craig Bierko and stage and screen vet Polly Draper will be part of the premiere cast of Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays. Performances begin November 7 at off-Broadway's Minetta Lane Theatre, with opening night set for November 13. Standing on Ceremony will feature a rotating cast, with additional cast members to be announced shortly.
Conceived by Brian Shnipper and directed by Stuart Ross, Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays features short plays from writers including Mo Gaffney, Jordan Harrison, Jeffrey Hatcher, Moises Kaufman, Joe Keenan, Neil LaBute, Wendy MacLeod, Jose Rivera, Paul Rudnick and Doug Wright.
Consuelos is best known for his work on TV's All My Children. His film and TV credits include Cop Out, Killer Hair, Ugly Betty, The Great Raid and My Super Ex-Girl Friend. He has frequently appeared as a substitute co-host alongside his wife, Kelly Ripa, on Live! With Regis & Kelly.
Harris earned a Tony Award for Thoroughly Modern Millie and has appeared on Broadway in Present Laughter, Cry-Baby, Old Acquaintance, The Man Who Came to Dinner and Four Baboons Adoring the Sun.
Bierko received a Tony nomination for The Music Man. His other Broadway credits include Thou Shalt Not and Guys and Dolls. He has appeared off-Broadway in Modern Orthodox and Intrigue with Faye.
Draper's Broadway work includes Brooklyn Boy, Closer and Crazy He Calls Me. She has appeared off-Broadway in The Guys, Blur, Turdy Blue, Four Dogs and a Bone, Ruck and Coke, Top Girls and The Freak.
The production will partner with Freedom to Marry, the campaign to win marriage nationwide, and donate a portion of all ticket sales to Freedom to Marry and other organizations promoting marriage equality.
